For Erica and Lindsay, connection to their local community was one of the factors that influenced their decision to engage Horizon Homes when they decided to knock down and rebuild their Russell Lea home.
Horizon came highly recommended, and Erica, Lindsay and their two boys, Lucas and Dylan, loved the style of Horizon’s past projects. But as a passionate AFL family, they also appreciated Horizon’s support of grassroots footy.
Horizon Homes has been a long-time sponsor of junior AFL clubs Concord Giants and the Canada Bay Cannons, both based in Sydney’s inner-west.
As a family-owned company, we’ve made this investment in grassroots sport because we’re passionate about being part of our local community – and because we also believe it is important to provide opportunities for kids to be active.
“We had a recommendation through family and friends, and we went to the footy and there’s a big Horizon sign on the fence and it is also across their jerseys, so it just made sense to partner,” Erica said. “The kids think it is pretty cool that the company that sponsors their club is the one that is building their new home.”
With their home due to complete later this year, Erica says she has been really impressed by the design and construction process.
“The design process is a big reason why we chose Horizon as well, because we can change what we want. So, we have chosen a standard plan, I guess you’d call it, but anything Lindsay and I wanted to change, we were able to.
“Denis (Horizon Homes Director Denis Carroll) would come and talk us through that process – what that means, what that would look like and how much that would cost.”
Erica and Lindsay are building a two-storey house, with four bedrooms upstairs and a fifth bedroom downstairs, which will be used as a study. Like all Horizon Homes’ builds, the house will have a great indoor-outdoor flow. A spacious living/dining/kitchen area will lead onto an al fresco kitchen, overlooking a backyard pool. For the family, a two-car garage was also very important.
“Quality of the construction is also important to us because it is our dream home… we want the quality and finishes to reflect that.
“Denis’ team is really good at communication and that’s what I like the best. We get a note from (site manager) Danny every Friday on progress… it is a full update. Nothing is a hassle. We can ask a question at any time.”
Erica and Lindsay, we’re honoured to be given the opportunity to build your dream home and can’t wait to hand over the keys.
